Twilight on the Castel Sant'Angelo with the adjacent bridge: Ponte Sant'Angelo. The Popes used the Castle of the Angels as a refuge in times of threat, but also to house art treasures. Furthermore, people were imprisoned. In 1870, the Vatican handed over the castle to the Italian army. It remained a prison until 1901, but in the 1930s it became a museum.
