Strünkede Castle is a moated castle in the Baukau district of Herne in the middle of an extensive castle park. Its name goes back to the Middle High German word "strunk" for "cleared tree".
Until the end of the 18th century, the castle was the seat of the baronial von Strünkede family. Since 1938, it has been home to the cultural and urban history collections of the Emschertal Museum. The rooms are also used for civil weddings.
