About ‘Cathedral of Meat’ by Retrotimes

This work is confrontational and uncompromising. A demonic face stares at the viewer with a grin that seeks not to seduce, but to unmask. Two church towers rise from its skull like horns — Gothic, weathered, unmistakably recognisable. Here, the sacred is not a counterforce to the monster, but inextricably fused with it. Faith and menace share the same body.

The skin is rough, cracked, almost stony. The teeth are bared, not in anger but in certainty. This creature knows who it is — and where it comes from. The towers bear crosses, but they are crooked, as if even the symbol of salvation is under strain. The image suggests not a simple indictment, but an uncomfortable question: when is power declared sacred, and when does sacredness become power?

The contrast between architecture and flesh is the beating heart of this work. Structures that normally symbolise protection and order are literally internalised here. Not as a burden, but as a weapon. That is what makes the image so effective: it is not loud, but inescapable. You cannot look away without feeling something rubbing against you.

As a print, this is a bold statement. It does not fit into every space, and that is precisely the intention. At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
