Peneda Geres is Portugal's only national park and located in the far northwest of Portugal, close to the Spanish border. The mountainous area is known for its traditional villages and cultures and for the beautiful waterfalls that can be found throughout the area. Some quite easy but some also only through brisk walking. In this picture you see the Cela Cavalos waterfall. This waterfall is not much visited because it is a bit more difficult to reach. It is off the usual route through the national park and you also have to hike for an hour. But the waterfall is definitely worth it. It is not extremely high or wide but the waterfall is located in a beautiful setting. Red rocks, lush vegetation and a small pool at the bottom of the waterfall. Really worth a visit and as a bonus you can also take a splash in the clear water of the pool.
