The legendary chalk cliffs of Rügen photographed in a rare, warm light.
Some of them lie in the late, warm afternoon sun (foreground) while the cold shadow light structures the others in the background.
It was my wish to visit and photograph this classic German landscape, and it was a complete success. The vastness of the North Sea in contrast to the typical local woodland with its geological formations creates an unforgettable sense of home.
Shot with a strong wide-angle lens, I was able to capture all the essential elements of the picture.
