Such a beautiful location! In the middle of the ardennes, surrounded by nothing but greenery, in a hilly area, a beautiful old castle looms up after a slope. It has not been inhabited for a long time. You can tell by the many windows that are boarded up. Inside was a big disappointment for us, it was completely demolished by vandals. Fortunately, we have a few nice pictures of the, among the urbexers, "famous" staircase. There were also traces of arson, the kitchen was completely demolished, furniture was all gone and there was no light inside. Until now the most difficult location to take pictures because of the lack of light.
About the castle:
The castle was built in the 1930s. After the second world war the castle was part of a Swiss sanatorium that treated war victims with tuberculosis. It became so successful that a hospital was built nearby to accommodate more patients. The hospital has also been closed down and is now a refugee center. Wolfenstein has not been a sanatorium since 1974, although it was then used as a nursing home, but has been empty since the 1990s, and it shows.
