Pienza in Tuscany, Italy is famous for pecorino cheese. Pecorino is made from sheep's cheese. The centre of Pienza has many cheese shops such as the one shown, selling various varieties of pecorino and other local cheeses for sale, as well as olive oils and other condiments. These shops are pretty smelly I have to say, but they are very popular with tourists who queue up to sample the cheese and take home a souvenir.
Here we look past a cheese shop window display, rows of cheese wheels beautifully presented, and into the shop beyond and the customers waiting to be served.
