In 1989, the RS (Rally Sport) version was re-introduced and had the same body ground effect as the two earlier IROC models and the previous Z28, but with a standard 2.8 litre V6 fuel injection engine. Therefore, in 1989 the B2L RPO 350 TPI L98 engine in combination with the removable CC1 RPO-T top roof elements could be ordered for the last time for the 3rd generation.
