Discovering the World Through My Lens: Photography with a Purpose
Photography is in my blood. From an early age, I inherited a love of capturing special moments from my father. He developed his photos in his own darkroom, and I have continued that passion. What once started with an analogue camera has grown into a digital journey full of creative possibilities. No more rolls, but the freedom to experiment endlessly and capture the world as I see it.
Despite the challenges posed by B12 Deficiency and Thin Fiber Neuropathy (DVN), I don't let them stop me. With my camera in hand, on my mobility scooter or wheelchair, I go out briefly or stay closer to home in my garden. Everywhere I find inspiring moments to capture: a bird spreading its wings, the reflection in a quiet ditch, or a powerful animal in action. Every image tells a story.
With my photography, I not only want to share the beauty of the world, but also raise awareness for B12 Deficiency and DVN. This is why I donate 10% of my commission to the B12 Institute Research Foundation, founded by the B12 Institute and Erasmus MC. They are doing important work for the (re)recognition and treatment of B12 Deficiency.
