This illydish town hall is the central heart of the old fortified town. Wars and fires did not get her off her pedestal. For centuries she has guarded tranquility and peace for her inhabitants.
This majestic structure was brought forth in 1697. In 1975, she was captured by French troops and Nieuwpoort lost her function as a fortified town. She provided protection during the flood of 1809, and during the 1820 storm surge, her ramparts were still firmly established in the ground.
