An abstract cityscape of the city of Zwolle in blue. That of course asks you, why specially blue. That blue has to do with the history of this city. The people of Zwolle are called blue-fingers. The towns of Zwolle and Kampen had disagreements with each other and made each other's lives miserable. The people of Zwolle had a nickname for the people of Kampen, namely 'Kampersteuren'. The swear name for the Zwolle people was 'Blauwvinger' because they committed perjury against the Duke of Gelre. A second story arose later when Zwolle offered the chimes from the Great Church for sale to Kampen. The Kampeners bought the chimes and, to pay for it, came one day with a cart full of money. They were all coins, so-called Vierduitstukken and so they got blue fingers because the copper coins all had to be counted. As will be clear, Zwollen is an old city and this cityscape shows that. This abstract, painterly work was therefore made in the colours blue, red, orange, yellow and black.
