About ‘Colorful.’ by PEEQ.

For most Houten residents, the houses on the Vlondertuin will not be an unfamiliar concept. The red-, blue-, yellow- and green-colored houses along the Rietplas are undoubtedly the most photographed houses in Houten. But why are these houses colored? For the item 'Houten Vraagt Rond' of the morning show Houten Ontwaakt! Vincie looked for the answer to this question.

The houses of "De Goede Reede", as the project is officially called, were designed by architect Hans Been and realized by NCB Projectrealisatie in 2005. So they have been in Houten for about 14 years! Many Houten residents get a vacation feeling from the colorful houses. Most people, when they see the houses, think of the Antilles, the Caribbean or Scandinavia. Brazil and Portugal are also mentioned.

That the houses are at the Rietplas and thus lie on the water, is according to most inhabitants of Houten a prerequisite for the colorful houses. "You often see this abroad also at waters, so then you copy that a little bit because that is very beautiful. If these houses were in a neighborhood without water, I personally would not find it beautiful," says a resident of Houten.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
