Above the rooftops of Puerto de la Cruz, the rainbow appears like a fleeting greeting from another world. The storm clouds, still heavy from the rain they have just unloaded, slowly drift out over the Atlantic, as if they were returning to the distant place from which they came. As they retreat, they open a gap in the sky - just big enough for light and wonder to fall through.
The arc of colour descends over the city as if to touch it gently: the white chimneys, the red tiled roofs, the quiet streets that fill with life again after the rain. Nothing seems louder than the light itself. And yet there is a deep calm in this moment, a sigh of relief that is only possible after a summer rain.
Far out, the sea glistens, still and unimpressed, as if it were a large mirror that collects all the colours and reflects them back. The rainbow seems to land in the water, a gateway between sky and ocean, between storm and silence.
It is one of those moments that make the day stop for a heartbeat - a silent gift that makes the island seem so unexpectedly powerful and at the same time so gentle.
