Several works by and about Escher can be seen in Baarn. The Escher roundabout is possibly the best known.
On the initiative of Jan Nijhof and W.F. Veldhuysen, the wood engraving "Concentric Peels" (1953) was translated into stainless steel, with a diameter of six metres. On 3 October 1998 (25 years ago), Queen's Commissioner and the mayor unveiled the work of art to mark the centenary of Escher's birth.
Mayor Wolterink-Oremus spoke: "Baarn has been enchanted by Escher and Escher has been inspired by Baarn."
