Connected Through Time by Color Square

The work depicts two female profiles that almost merge into one another, built up from rich layers of copper, gold, bronze and dark earth tones. The woman in the foreground forms the visual centrepiece. Her face is rendered as a deep, dark silhouette, whilst a long, exquisitely decorated earring and a richly adorned headdress lend her an almost regal air. Immediately behind her appears a second face, more subtle and more intertwined with the background. The composition is particularly striking for its exceptional material richness. Relief textures, cracked surfaces, engraved patterns and metallic-looking areas give the image the impression of a collage of old metal, leather and weathered gold leaf. Meticulous floral and leaf motifs are incorporated into the headdress. The clothing, too, features countless decorative lines reminiscent of embroidery or traditional ornamentation.
What is particularly striking is how the two profiles almost touch. This creates a sense of connection: two women, two generations, or perhaps two sides of the same identity. The face in the background appears to emerge literally from the textures of the first.
The warm copper and gold tones lend the work a timeless, monumental atmosphere. The result is a powerful female double portrait in which beauty, heritage, connection and feminine strength converge.
