Cupid and Psyche 3

by Yke de Vos

A digital interpretation of Cupid and Psyche, inspired by the magnificent sculpture by the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova. The myth: Cupid leans tenderly over Psyche and, with his wings, dispels the death-like slumber into which Psyche had fallen as a result of a trick by the jealous Aphrodite. Blessed, his beloved reaches out to kiss him. The great love between the god and the beautiful king’s daughter moved even the Olympian gods: Zeus granted Psyche immortality so that both might become a symbol of eternal love that would survive all the storms of time.
