Food photography is not by definition making still lifes and still lifes are not by definition food photography; but in this case they are working very well together.
The purple outside and red inside of the figs make for a very 'autumny' atmosphere themselves. But together with the antique bowl (from the 1890s by Petrus Regout) in matching colours and the woorden board this image just overflows with character, a cosy feeling and fall atmosphere.
A sharp, straight edge as in the fig cut in half on the right of the wooden board doesn't happen by itself. Only a knife with experience, making its mark on the woord quite literally, can make a sharp, clean cutting edge.
