The Utrecht village of Haarzuilens is home to the largest castle in the Netherlands, Kasteel De Haar, built in the 13th century. For a long time, the castle was owned by the van Zuylen family. In 2000, the castle and its buildings were transferred to Stichting Kasteel De Haar. The castle's beautiful towers, battlements, weather alleys, drawbridge and moat surrounded by a park full of old trees, ponds, winding paths and flowery style gardens is now a museum. Kasteel de Haar is a beautifully impressive and fairytale-like castle and is also often used as a wedding venue.
