The house chapel of the older presbytery the Herdershof is older. It was built in 1720 to replace a small church that stood on the other side of the canal. The building functioned as a church for over 120 years, when the last mass was celebrated in 1963. After that, the church and rectory served as a publishing house and warehouse for several decades. The Roman Catholic cemetery behind the complex is still in use.
