About ‘De Kolk in Joure’ by Jelte Bosma

Een historisch stukje van Joure in Friesland! De Kolk is diverse eeuwen geleden gegraven. Het water tussen het centrum van Joure en de Zijlroede wordt Kolk genoemd en voert langs het Tolhuis waar tot in het midden van de twintigste eeuw een ophaalbrug was. Je kon toen nog doorvaren via een schutsluis in het verlengde van De Kolk naar de Overspitting. De Overspitting is een water, dat bij de Bandster-Schans uit de Heerensloot voortkomt, en dat langs Nijehaske, Oudehaske en Haskerhorne, door De Jouwer loopt, waarna het, als de Zijlroede, in de Oudeweg uitloopt. De oorspronkelijke Friese naam is "De Hurdspytsje". Het woord hurd slaat wellicht op de harde ondergrond die men tegenkwam. De naam kwam in 1646 reeds voor. Aan de Overspitting lagen tuinderijen en een groenteveiling. De te veilen groente werd per boot aangevoerd.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
