The Deadvlei plains are home to ancient trees that have dried out due to extreme heat and drought.
On the plain, created by white clay in pools, which were formed from a riverbed that formed pools in which acacia trees could grow.
Deadvlei is surrounded by some of the highest dunes in the world, the tallest of which is 300 to 400 metres high.
This tree trunk was quite far away on the Deadvlei so there were no tourists disturbing the view. Because tourists there are a lot of them!
