Deep blue hope in the dark

by Hetty van der Zanden

In this intriguing photo on a black background, a single cucumber flower shines like a jewel in the night. The flower, cloaked in rich, royal blue hues, takes centre stage in the frame and stands out strikingly against the darkness. Its delicate petals seem to dance like silk in the wind as it catches the light.

The cucumber flower, often referred to as "star flower" because of the five-pointed star-like shape of its petals, carries deep symbolism. This flower is known for its association with courage and comfort. Its blue colour symbolises serenity and peace of mind. The flower in the picture seems to shine like a symbol of calmness and confidence in the darkness.

The black background emphasises the striking beauty of the cucumber flower and evokes a sense of mystery. The contrast between the deep, dark background and the bright, celestial flower reinforces its symbolic meaning as a beacon of hope and calm in times of uncertainty.

This picture invites the viewer to embrace the symbolism of the cucumber flower, reminding us that there is always room for calm and courage, even amidst the many challenges of our times. It is a visual reminder of the power of this simple yet meaningful flower.
