These are the hands of a statue standing in front of a memorial wall for Jewish victims. You can find it across from the Railway Museum in Utrecht.
The shofar, the symbol of hope, is carried by ten Jewish men (minyan) reading the kaddish.
For me, the hands with the book were as meaningful as the whole image. Hence this detail shot. You can then give your own interpretation. Hands are so telling.
The shofar and pedestal were made by Georgian-Dutch artist Amiran Djanashvili, who has his studio in Utrecht.
Who am I, a small intro:
Once started as an architecture photographer with Robert Oerlemans as my photography docent at the art academy in The Hague.
