The bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) is a wild sheep of the family of the cave hornidae (Bovidae). The animal is found in the Rocky Mountains and other mountain areas in western North America. It owes its name to the big curved horns of the rams.
The species is related to the snow sheep (Ovis nivicola) and for this reason this Siberian sheep species is seen by some as a subspecies of the bighorn sheep.
