Dushi Women: Beach Talk

by Renata Rolefes Art

Dushi Women: Beach Talk captures one of those wonderful moments when four friends are sitting on the beach and time seems to stand still. With a view of the turquoise Caribbean Sea, a glass of wine in hand and their feet in the sand, they are completely absorbed in their conversations. The sort of conversations that start with one little story and, hours later, still haven’t come to an end.

The colourful swimsuits, large sun hats and cheerful headscarves give each lady her own personality. A beach bag sits between them, the waves roll gently towards the shore, and really, nothing else is needed. The scene is all about being together, chatting, laughing and enjoying a sunny day with good friends.

The painting is built up from multiple layers of acrylic paint, applied with palette knives, expressive brushstrokes and playful splashes of paint. The patterns on the swimwear are full of pink, orange, turquoise, green and yellow, forming a colourful contrast with the light sand and the blue sea. Small details in the hats, hair and accessories give each woman her own distinct character.

Dushi Dames: Beach Talk is more than just a cheerful beach scene. It is an ode to friendship and to those moments when a beach, a drink and, above all, good company are all it takes for a perfect day. A colourful work of art full of warmth, conviviality and Caribbean joie de vivre.
