In this Dutch landscape on the coast near Cadzand in Zeeland, this little cat has found a nice spot. The cat is my own and has a backstory. On the evening of Christmas Day, it was raining, a kitten about three months old slipped in with us. We took one look at it. Kitten took one look around, came purring to us and the matter seemed decided...he stayed. Enquiries in the neighbourhood revealed that no one was missing a kitten and after checking with the vet, he was found not to be microchipped so...he could stay! A survivor this kitten. He saw an opportunity, took the risk and managed to have a home now. His name is Herrie, and in this image I show that. Satisfaction, peace, security and warmth. I composed the painterly image by using several of my photos and editing them digitally. The result is this poetic endearing image that carries stillness and nostalgia.
Creating atmospheric images is the style I love. In my photography and painting it is mainly nature, always an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
