About ‘ENCI quarry Maastricht.’ by Rob Sentjens

The ENCI quarry, located on the outskirts of Maastricht, is a former limestone quarry that played an important role in the industrial history of the Netherlands. From the 1920s, the Eerste Nederlandse Cement Industrie (ENCI) quarried marl here, the basic raw material for cement production. For almost a century, the quarry was intensively used, leading to an impressive landscape with steep marl walls and vast plains.

In 2018, the industrial extraction of marl stopped and the transformation of the quarry into a nature reserve began. This redevelopment project aims to create a unique nature and recreation area where flora and fauna can develop. Visitors can now walk through the quarry, enjoy the spectacular views from Mount St Peter, and admire the clear waters of the new lakes. The ENCI quarry has thus become a symbol of successful redevelopment and nature restoration, offering a beautiful contrast between industrial heritage and natural beauty.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
