Earth Wings II

by Tiara Kroes

A particularly abstract painting in which a light, almost flower-like form unfolds against a dark background. Warm shades of sand, ochre and soft brown stand out against deep hues of forest green, black and rust brown. The organic forms are reminiscent of a flower, a wing or a natural element slowly coming into view.

The various layers of paint lend the work a rich, weathered appearance. Broad, dark brushstrokes alternate with fine lines, scratches and irregular textures. In places, the light form appears weathered, as if time has left its mark on it. It is precisely this imperfection that gives the painting a unique beauty.

In *Earth Wings II*, a fascinating interplay emerges between light and dark, vulnerability and strength. The light form seems to be cautiously opening up, whilst the dark surroundings simultaneously envelop it. The image leaves room for imagination and personal associations. Perhaps you see a flower unfolding, a wing opening, or simply an unexpected encounter between colour and form.

The deep, natural colours give this painting a warm and atmospheric feel. The work fits beautifully into an interior featuring earth tones, natural materials and calm colours. Thanks to the strong contrast between the light form and the dark background, it attracts attention without losing its understated character. This painting is part of the *Earth Wings* series, comprising three related works, each with its own character.
