Tips for use

About ‘Echidna nebulosa’ by Enak Cortebeeck

While diving in Muscat, Oman, I met this Snowflake moray eel (Echidna nebulosa).

What an absolutely beautiful moray. The vibrant colours, those hypnotic eyes… and that classic “toothless granny” look when you catch them from the right angle.

But you know the fun fact about morays, right? They are far from toothless. In fact, behind the teeth in their mouth they have another mouth — the pharyngeal jaws — armed with more razor-sharp teeth, which move forward from the throat when they bite.

Enak Cortebeeck

Antwerpen, Belgium

ENAK CORTEBEECK is an Antwerp-based art director and designer, working in film, television, children’s media, user experience and socio-cultural campaigns. He has worked for clients including the BBC, Warner Bros., the European Union and De Filistijnen.

As well as his work as a designer, Enak is an underwater photographer. In his images, he explores texture, colour and the silent geometry of coral ecosystems.
