Eilean Donan Castle is an originally thirteenth-century castle, located 0.8 kilometres from Dornie, on an island in Loch Duich in the Highland region of Scotland. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the castle was blown up. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Eilean Donan Castle was extensively restored and opened to the public.
Eilean Donan Castle served as the location for many a film, including The Master of Ballantrae (1953), The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970), Highlander (1985), Loch Ness (1996), The World Is Not Enough (1999), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) and Made of Honor (2007).
