The lake can be reached from the surrounding villages Schönfeld (about 1 km away from the lake), Prenden (2 km away) and Marienwerder (about 3 km away). Bernsteinsee is in the catchment area of Biesenthal, which is about 7 kilometres away from the lake.
Bernsteinsee Ruhlsdorf is located in the district of Barnim in Brandenburg between Ruhlsdorf and Marienwerder. There are open bathing areas with a sandy beach at the gravel lake. On the northern shore there is a lido with several beach volleyball courts. The lake has an area of 27.6 hectares with a maximum length of almost one kilometre.
