Former sanatorium "Zonnestraal" in the woods near Hilversum. Zonnestraal was a tuberculosis sanatorium in the twenties and thirties. Designed by the famous architect Jan Duiker, who also designed the beautiful "Theater Gooiland". For years it has been in decay, but in 2004 a beautiful restoration was done to the main building. At the moment the only building that needs to be restored is the Dresselhuys Pavilion. Zonnestraal has been submitted to the UNESCO World Heritage List but is still on the provisional list. Big detail in the window frames of the building is the "Diver Blue". A light color blue that you also see at Theater Gooiland and other famous buildings designed by Jan Duiker.
