In the autumnal twilight, when the last rays of the sun bathe the sky in a kaleidoscopic play of colours, a magical moment is revealed on the banks of the Rhine in Cologne. The majestic Hohenzollern Bridge, crowned by a shimmering ribbon of lights, sits proudly above the calm waters as it interweaves the splendour of the past with the vibrancy of the present.
In my self-taken photo, captured in September, the lights on the bridge dance in the gentle evening breeze, a hint of nostalgia and romance in the air. The imposing northern tower of Cologne Cathedral rises up in the right-hand section of the picture, only visible in a cropped view, its silhouette standing out powerfully against the darkness-soaked sky.
The scenery is a tribute to the beauty of the architecture and the history of a city that proudly bears its roots in the past while looking boldly to the future. The illuminated Hohenzollern Bridge serves as a kind of link between the ages, a symbol of the continuity and change that makes the heart of Cologne pulsate.
Captured in this moment in my photo, I feel the magic of the city, the calm of the river and the eternity of the moment. It is an image that is more than just a simple snapshot - it is a poetic ode to the beauty of life, captured in the melancholy of a September evening at Cologne Cathedral.
