Gothenburg is Sweden's second city, located on the west coast and with an important port. The city was once built by the Dutch, who, according to their tradition, built canals. Most canals have been filled in since then but the central canal, through the heart of the city remains. On this canal is the square where the stock exchange and the city hall are located, seenon the right. The canal is called: Stora Hamnkanalen or Great Harbour Canal.
