The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multi-purpose fighter jet that has been widely used since 1979. The F-16 was an innovative aircraft in many ways. For instance, the F-16 was the first aircraft with a computer-controlled control system based on fly-by-wire. The Air Force of the Polish Republic is the air force component of the Polish Armed Forces. The current air force has existed since 1 July 2004. Until that date it was called Air and Air Defence Force. The Polish Air Force has some 40,000 troops and 22 bases in Poland.
