The painting was made during Vincent van Gogh's time in Arles in Provence, France.
Farmhouse in Provence, also known as the gateway to a farm with haystacks, created at the height of Vinvcent van Gogh's career. Partly because he was inspired by painter Adolphe Monticelli, Van Gogh sought to expand his painting skills and experience in Provence in France. Van Gogh used different pairs of complementary colors in the farmhouse in Provence, in which the color contrast made his work more intense.
