Father Christmas – Can’t see a thing

by AidasignArt

If you don’t want to see something, it’s best not to look! Freely inspired by an ancient saying of Confucius, which urges prudence and right action, this Father Christmas interprets the first rule in his very own, highly amusing way. With his eyes tightly shut and both hands covering his face, Father Christmas seems to have decided to shut out the world for a moment. But if you look more closely, you’ll spot a curious glance peeking out from between his brown leather gloves. It seems he doesn’t take that wise restraint quite so seriously after all!

The artful composition combines the vibrant Christmas red of his pilot’s outfit with a dramatically broken-up, gleaming golden stone texture. Golden reflections of light and the sculptural wall design lend the motif an extraordinary depth and festive elegance.

Conceived as part of a humorous triptych, the work also makes an impact on its own and enriches the festive atmosphere with a charming touch of mischief. The motif is part of the series ‘Santa Claus Reimagined – Father Christmas on a New Mission’, in which Father Christmas reinterprets traditional roles and expectations with humour, imagination and a twinkle in his eye.
