The Ferrari 275 GTB, introduced in 1964, is widely regarded as one of the most important and beautiful grand tourers in Ferrari’s history. Styled by Pininfarina with bodywork by Scaglietti, it features a long, sweeping nose, tightly drawn body surfaces, and muscular rear haunches that together create an elegant yet purposeful silhouette. Beneath its aluminum or steel bodywork lies a 3.3-liter Colombo V12 producing roughly 280 to 300 horsepower, paired with a five-speed transaxle mounted at the rear—an innovative layout for Ferrari road cars that significantly improved weight distribution and handling balance.
The 275 GTB also introduced independent rear suspension, further enhancing stability and refinement at high speeds. Early “short-nose” versions were later replaced by the improved “long-nose” design, which offered better aerodynamics, while the ultimate evolution, the 275 GTB/4, added a quad-cam engine and increased power. Competition variants, built in limited numbers, achieved success in endurance racing, notably at Le Mans. Today, the Ferrari 275 GTB is celebrated not only for its technical advancements but also for its timeless design and visceral driving character. Its rarity, craftsmanship, and historical significance have made it one of the most coveted classic Ferraris among collectors worldwide.
