Ferris wheel with a pinhole camera

by Henk Egbertzen

There are those moments when the world seems to stand still for a moment. This work captures precisely that quiet, melancholic feeling.

This is no ordinary photograph. It is a shot taken with a pinhole camera. No lenses, no focus, no viewfinder. Just a tiny hole, a long exposure and a piece of film. A primitive process that forces you to let go.
-
As a result, the image is out of focus, grainy and full of surprises. The large, dark Ferris wheel towers high above the hazy palm trees, against a chilly, grey sky. The double exposure lends the whole scene a sense of mystery, as if you’ve stepped out of reality for a moment.
-
It is precisely this imperfection that makes this piece so beautiful. It is not a glossy, perfect postcard, but an honest memory. The grain, the soft focus and the cool shades of grey, blue and black evoke a deep sense of nostalgia and melancholy.
-
This is an absolute eye-catcher in any interior. It fits perfectly with an industrial style, a creative workspace or a living room where authenticity and storytelling take centre stage. It is a statement piece that continues to move you.

A unique and authentic work of art for anyone who sees the beauty in imperfection, the magic of analogue photography and dares to embrace the power of solitude.
