Tulip season in the Netherlands runs from the end of March to mid-May. Depending on the weather, the best chance to see blooming tulip fields is around mid-April. After the flowering season, the heads of the tulips are cut off. All nutrition then no longer goes to the flower, but to the bulb. From that moment on, new bulbs grow in the ground, which are harvested in June and July and prepared for export.
I came across these beautiful tulips in mid-April in the Flevopolder, where every year you can drive a 'tulip route' along various tulip fields. The different colors are downright magical.
