Zuiderheide is a heathland area between Laren and Hilversum. The area extends from the Sint Janskerkhof towards the Eemvallei. The area is archaeologically and geologically important. The area is managed by the Goois Nature Reserve.
The Seven Mountains is the name of the burial mounds from about four thousand years ago. The burial mounds extend over the Zuiderheide and the adjacent Westerheide. In the southern part of the Zuiderheide there are a number of heathen pines that used to be used to wash the flocks of sheep present at that time, hence the name Laarder Wasmeer. There the heather also borders Anna's Hoeve, an employment project from the thirties of the 20th century, in the area of the municipality of Hilversum.
