Fireweed is a long-flowering perennial. Early in the year, it blooms with pale yellow flowers until September. In autumn, seed pods are formed, giving ornamental value to the plant throughout autumn and winter. It grows to a height of 0.80 -1 m. The flowers are edible.
In dry soil and in a sheltered, warm spot in the garden, the plant is well hardy. In very harsh winters, the plant can use some protection.
