Friday evening half past seven at the Vismarkt in Groningen. Then it gets temporarily quieter until the going out starts later in the evening.
The council cleaning boys have cleared away the last remnants of the vegetable market and the Ravens take possession of the square.
Although this is a somewhat older work of mine, the market and its surroundings have changed nothing. The Korenbeurs in the background has undergone a complete renovation during 2021-2022 and looks fresh again.
It is of the places in the centre of Groningen that I love to visit as a born and bred Groninger. It still exudes the older atmosphere of the early 1950s. even if for all the North side shop premises are too modern for my taste, but many of the old top gables are still there and are under city protection.
