Quetena Chico (4200m) - Huaylla Jara (4300m) We arrive at the first Laguna. Due to the minerals and salty water, the Laguna has colours of yellow, blue, green and red. A beautiful view with in the water yes, pink and red coloured flamingos! We were eager to get out of the car, but when we stood outside it was freezing cold! It seemed so warm with the sunshine.... Part of the salt lake is frozen over. It must be freezing really hard to turn salt water into ice. And the strong wind doesn't exactly feel like a warm bath either. So after a quick photo session and a visit to the inca banjo (natural toilet), we hurry on because our guide Alvaro says that a much nicer Laguna is coming! And yes, he was absolutely right, Laguna Verde has even more intense colours than the previous one and many more flamingos! You can hear them all chirping and squawking. In the distance, you see the large group of flamingos standing close together with their heads raised they do a sort of dance by moving from side to side. Apparently this is a mating dance that we get to witness. How very special to witness this!
