'Painting with light'
When looking for suitable subjects for macro/close-up photography, I look for a suitable subject and its surroundings. For me, it is not just the subject that counts, in fact the surroundings are equally important. It largely determines the atmosphere.
This so-called "Big Cat's Tail" and the vegetation with light around it, lent itself perfectly to a more abstract image. By finding the right depth of field and vantage point, this image came about.
I emphasised the light tones. This gives an awesome, minimalist effect that looks very soft, dreamy and artistic, with still a well-recognisable portrait of this beautiful specimen.
