The climate is changing and spring is entering earlier and earlier. Nature is fragile and persistent at the same time. This daffodil blooms on an early spring day, warm for the time of year.
This work was created using mixed media, oil paint on a ground of acrylic paint, ink and gilt wax. The golden wax represents the warmth of an early spring and the white represents the chance of frost and winter showers. Blurred text is printed in the background that gives the impression of a news sheet. The grungy background symbolises environmental pollution, the green motifs represent budding nature and leaves, while the daffodil itself represents hope and a new beginning.
