It is early in the morning. The sky is colouring and the last shreds of fog are hovering over the field in the distance. A dead tree lies in the foreground. The heather is in bloom. This beautiful nature reserve, named Drouwenerzand, lies between Gasselte and Drouwen on the Hondsrug. It is managed by the Drentse Landschap foundation and contains various types of heather.
