The fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) is a conspicuous mushroom, common in the Netherlands. The mushroom is highly poisonous. The best-known mushroom is the fly agaric with a dark red cap with white dots. The white dots are remnants of the overall casing in which the mushroom was 'locked up' before it emerged from the ground. These wash off the cap quite quickly in rainy weather.
