This photo shows two flamingo's in full flight over a mirror-smooth water surface. The flamingo at the front has its wings spread wide, with the beautiful contrasts between its pink feathers and dark wing tips clearly visible. Its legs are stretched backwards, suggesting dynamic movement. Behind him follows a second flamingo, also with spread wings, but slightly less prominent in the picture.
A small unique element that may not be immediately noticeable is the way the water splashes as a result of the flamingo's movement. These small drops of water create a vivid effect and emphasise the speed and power of the birds. Moreover, the reflection of the flamingo's in the water is almost perfect, making it look like there are four birds instead of two.
This work makes me feel warm and energetic. The dynamic movement of the flamingo's and the bright colours exude a sense of life and vitality. The image seems to capture a moment of pure freedom in which the birds can indulge unhindered. The emotion I want to convey is a sense of wonder and admiration for nature. For me, this work symbolises the power and beauty of nature, and how we can enjoy and learn from it.
In an interior, this work can be a wonderful addition for people who have a love for natural themes's and dynamic images. The colours and shapes of the flamingo's can evoke memories of holidays in exotic destinations or simply bring a sense of energy and vitality to a space. It suits people who have a passion for photography, nature and art, and can serve as a visual focal point in a living room or bedroom.
