About ‘Forest Edge’ by Rita Tielemans Kunst

This watercolour exudes a dreamy, almost ethereal atmosphere, in which the line between reality and abstraction is subtly blurred. The soft, flowing brushstrokes suggest a landscape bathed in a misty morning mist, with trees looming like faint silhouettes from a hazy background. The colours are delicate and harmonious: deep greens and warm yellows bring the foliage to life, while underground reflections create an almost mirror-like effect.

In the centre of the composition, a prominent tree draws attention, its crown of leaves lighter and brighter than the surrounding flora, as if the sunlight is just breaking through it. The horizon line is not sharply defined, creating a sense of infinity and tranquillity. The purple and blue tones in the lower half suggest a water feature or an open plain, a void that invites the viewer to fill in the landscape themselves.

The whole scene exudes a sense of serenity, as if time seems to stand still for a moment in this poetic, impressionistic rendering of nature.
